Lineup 2014

Claire

Montreal, PQ

The daughter of a mad scientist and a violinist, Claire played violin and bass guitar as a child before abandoning traditional instruments for the world of electronic music. A DJ for over a decade, she is known for her unique underground sounds and creative style of mixing that reflects her quirky sensual nature. Her expression dives deep thru valleys of bass and tripped out fantasies involving drums, hypnotic melodies, and sounds from outer space. Her sound and presence radiate warmth and raw energy; she is known for dramatic buildups and beautiful transitions.

Claire’s versatility and mixing skills have earned her the privilege of playing alongside renowned artists like Ellen Allien, Akufen, Frivolous, Noze, Tipper, Levon Vincent and Mark Farina. She weaves sounds together intuitively, creating a feeling in her DJ sets that is at all at once playful and carefree, nostalgic and everlasting. Her style is distinctively techno-based, with splashes of Detroit, minimalism, and breakbeat.

Currently living in Montreal, Claire is a regular feature across Canada and has played Internationally in Argentina, Brazil, France, USA, Germany and Japan. She has performed at infamous events and venues like IGLOOFEST, AIR Tokyo, Levitar Buenos Aires, the Techno Parade in Paris, The Evolve Festival and Montreal’s Piknic Electronik. Well-loved by Laïka, she holds a 5 year ongoing Friday night residency and in 2011 launched a series of underground ‘Blackbox’ events– a nomadic dance party that changes location every time.

As a producer, in 2012 Claire released her premiere EP: The Dark Kiss EP on Lost Land Records, followed by her critically-acclaimed debut Album ‘Under a Midnight Moon’ on Pheek’s record label ‘Archipel’. In 2013 she was added to the roster of Stefny Winter’s label Goodnight Moon Recordings. For 2014 her focus is on production and the sculpting of her live set: she has some remixes and EPs in the works, and joins the family of a very special Berlin record label.
