Grandtheft

Toronto, Ontario

Grandtheft is a Producer/Songwriter/DJ currently based in Toronto, Canada.

Establishing a eclectic, custom club sound by playing largely his own originals, remixes and video edits, Grandtheft has slayed clubs worldwide and is respected as one of the best live DJs Canada has to offer. The music he produces is varied beyond categorization, except to say, it seems to move people. Grandtheft’s productions have garnered heavy support from the likes of Diplo, Major Lazer, A-Trak, Nadastrom, Jazzy Jeff, Flosstradamus, Skream, Digitalism, Partysquad, Craze and BBC debuts from Annie Mac, Mista Jam and Kissy Sellout. Touring 150+ dates per year, his remixes and live sets have led to being booked to support acts from U2 to Arcade Fire to Avicii, and being hand-picked by celebs such as Seth Rogan and Paris Hilton to supply the soundtrack for their events. New Years Eve 2012, Grandtheft performed live-to-air on national TV as the sole DJ for the MuchMusic throwback “Electric Circus”. Later in the year, Grandtheft collaborated with Diplo to remix Calvin Harris and Florence Welch’s hit “Sweet Nothing”. Released on Ultra/Fly Eye, this remix became a worldwide smash in and of itself, climbing to the Top 10 on the iTunes Dance Charts in Canada and a number of other countries.

GT was also known as one half of the Team Canada DJs duo and founder of The Eh! Team. Coming up under the late DJ AM’s wing, Team Canada’s reign included playing clubs across the US and performing at most major Canadian events nationwide, including Canada Day on Parliament HIll (crowd of 100 000+) and being selected as the Official DJs to The 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver/Whistler.

Early 2011, the dark sound of Grandtheft’s “Let Me Out ft. Alixe Turner” caught the ear of Stretch Armstrong and he released the record on his Plant Music label that spring. This debut single was co-written by Sinjin Hawke and featured stellar remixes by a super-producer lineup of U-Tern, Danny Daze and Eli Escobar. He followed that up with summer club smashes “Gangsta Muzik” and “Splash” (T&A Records) which rose to #1 Overall Release on Turntable Lab. He’s also delivered some big remixes to labels like Universal, Interscope, Dim Mak and OM – including official hit reworks for Calvin Harris, Steve Aoki, Drake and Juan MacLean. These remixes and his familiar white label dubs like are heard in clubs around the world on a nightly basis and have repeatedly attained the #1 spot on Hype Machine’s blog charts.
