Loopsy Dazy

Toronto, Ontario

Loopsy Dazy was sprouted from the mind of Colorado-born, Halifax via Kyoto-bred, Toronto-based musician and producer, Mikey Dorje. While staying rooted in the intention of preserving the undeniably endearing qualities of live musicianship, Loopsy Dazy embraces the power of technology to enable boundless possibilities in their performances and productions. Joined by Eleanor Edgar on violin and Brad Weber (Caribou / Pick a Piper) on drums, their dynamic and unique approach to music has earned the band considerable recognition. A collaboration with esteemed producer BT and composing music for a documentary film, that is getting screenings worldwide, are just a few of the things that the band has been up to.

The real highlight however, is their live shows. When Loopsy Dazy performs live, there is no use of pre-recorded loops or bedtracks whatsoever. The band plays their instruments which they loop, layer, tweak, trigger and re-trigger in real time to create a symphony of sound that combines elements of both electronic and acoustic music. Since the band’s launch in September 2010, they have been consistently delighting audiences and rocking dance floors in Toronto, New York City, Montreal, Halifax and Guelph. They are a resident band at Archi-textures, one of Toronto’s most notable weekly dance music events and are confirmed to play Evolve Festival in Nova Scotia in 2013.
