Lineup 2014

Chris Poirier

New Waterford, NS

Hailing from the small town of New Waterford, on the eastern tip of Cape Breton, music was a huge part of Chris’s life. His love for music came at an early age when he received his first set of junior drums. He vividly recalls banging out Black Betty by Ram Jam during family parties and stealing the show.

After graduating high school in 2003 his musical career took flight. At this point he realized that the drum kit was not his forte but rather the natural, organic sound of hand drums. Teaming up with friends from New Waterford the band Madame Brown was born, a hybrid of modern rock, trance and post-punk/nu-disco rhythms which really caught the ears of jam band enthusiasts nationally and internationally. This solid group of artists had the privilege to tour with local bands like Slow Coaster, Carmen Townsend, The Jimmy Swift , and opened for big acts like King Sunshine , Hedley, and Prism to name a few.

After the band parted ways in late 2010 Chris’s love for electronic music lead him to team up with Cam Harding and “The Real Jazz” a collective of Halifax DJ’s and musicians fusing rhythmic tribal and Latin beats blended with live Saxophone, Percussion , Guitar, Bass, Synth, Acapellas, Loops, and EFX.

With countless gigs under his belt, his versatility, energy, and knowledge of music is sure to keep the dance floor bumping all night long!

This year Chris will be sharing the Synergy stage with Robert Matthews aka DOBBA a force to be reckoned with on the Electro-House circuit in Atlantic Canada. The ass shaking will be relentless when these two take the stage!
