D-Yazz is a 15 year veteran on the Halifax music scene, and much like electronic music, his skills and taste have grown and evolved quite a bit over the years. After being exposed to the new Deep House sound at Miami’s WMC in 2011, this music has become his passion. He’s spent the last 3 years focussing on the genre of Deep House and finding his own unique style, a blend of emotional and melodic tracks with deep rolling basslines mixed with techno beats.
D-Yazz is currently the resident lounge dj at one of Halifax’s premium venues ONYX, with partner in crime, Jules Bangsworth.
Whether D-Yazz is heating up dancefloors with bangin House or setting the mood with a sexy chilled-out Lounge set, you’ll be sure to hear his jazz and funk influences. His eclectic mix of genres has landed him gigs all over the world, from The Martini Bar on George St. to the coffee shops in Amsterdam, as well as local gigs with some of his favourite djs, including Sonny Fodera, DJ Heather, Hector Moralez, Tommy Largo and many others.
By calling on his wide range of musical taste and knowledge, D-Yazz has a unique ability to take a dance floor on a journey to suit all styles. His energy, talent, and open mind are sure to make for an unforgettable festival set.
